Profesor Guardado Course Outline E-mail: [email protected] Classroom # H208 Course Description & Objectives: Spanish for Spanish Speakers 1 is a full-year course designed for native speakers who desire to improve their literacy skills and oral proficiency. Students enhance their critical reading and writing skills. Students develop an appreciation for their cultural, historical, and linguistic background through the reading and study of Hispanic authors. It includes a thorough review of the grammar rules and the orthography of Spanish. Students will read and write extensively, give oral presentations, and participate in debates, all while learning about the fundamental grammatical structures of Spanish and the many ways this language can be used in both formal and informal settings. Students will examine not only linguistic but socio-cultural issues, developing a great appreciation of the Hispanic Heritage. Students will read and analyze many readings such as: short stories, plays, poems, and novels. Required Materials:

Consequences: First Time: Verbal warning. Second Time: Verbal warning. Third Time: Referral to office and/or call home. Read you agenda for more information: “Behavior Guidelines and Discipline” and “MUHSD School Board Discipline Policy.” ALL SCHOOL RULES WILL BE ENFORCED AT ALL TIMES Electronic devices—cellphones, ipods, etc. Homework: Homework is assigned periodically. Please, pay close attention to due dates. Attendance: If an absence is unavoidable, YOU are responsible for asking a classmate or teacher for homework, assignments, or notes. Please see me before school, during 5th period, or at lunch for any missed assignments. Note: All absences will require make-up work. You have two days from the day you return to make-up any work. Grading System: (Weighted Grades) 90%--100% = A 75% = Assessments: Summative and Formative / Signature Assignments 75%--89% = B 25% = Concept Development: Classwork, Homework and Participation 60%--74% = C 50%--59% = D Below 50% = F Bathroom Passes:
Tardies: Class begins when the bell rings. You must be sitting in your desk when the bell rings or you will be marked tardy. Have all your materials ready to start working as soon as the bell rings. (Chromebook ready to work) Assessment Procedures:
